The sound of Tempe rockers Mighty Unlisted might best be described as identity crisis with heavy guitars. These 3 guys will hit you with a minor-key rock movement one minute and turn around and give you some sugar-sweet guitar pop the next.
Playing together in several incarnations over several years, Mighty Unlisted is out to do one thing. Make music they believe in and entertain and move the listener hopefully along the way. It’s simple reallly. Now someone tell them that.
The history of Mighty Unlisted…
2003-2005
Longtime friend Manny Ruiz (m5) joined the band when James Lopez left in the spring of 2003. Mighty Unlisted played mutiple shows and gained many new friends in the scene while continuing to evolve their sound and show some of their newer influences.
2001-2003
After John Tweedy departed the band, Philly native James Lopez took his spot. Mighty Unlisted recorded 3 more songs with Larry Elyea, and combined them to make ‘The Magnificent Seven Demos’.
Mighty Unlisted gained some local press and most notably played a large show that was later part of MTV Road Rules ‘Campus Crawl’.
1999-2001
Mike Jewell left the now ‘Mighty’ Unlisted in the summer of 1999 and new bass player John Tweedy was brought in. During this time Mighty Unlisted continued to play the Phoenix area (With a couple Tucson shows for good measure) and recorded some demos with Larry Elyea at Mind’s Eye Digital. These four songs would make up part of ‘The Magnificent Seven Demos’ released in 2003.
1997-1999
In 1997 Uniisted found themselves in need of a drummer and placed an ad in the Phoenix New Times. A. Brad Hazelton responded and the rest is history as they say. Little did he know he would be spending years of his life with at least one of these other fools.
Unlisted recorded their first (and only) actual full length CD, ‘Wide Awake and Screaming’ in March of 1998. Tracking was done at Mind’s Eye Digital Studios in Tempe, AZ by Larry Elyea. This 9-song album showed the variety and identity crisis that is Mighty Unlisted.
1995-1997
The first incarnation, known as ‘Unlisted’ simply named by drummer Mike Wood. Joining Mike and Travis was Mike Jewell on bass. Unlisted released a 4-song self-titled, self-recorded cassette tape and began playing shows in the Phoenix area.
